Location

Crantock, Newquay

Crantock offers a large expanse of golden sands backed by dunes between the Pentire Headland to the west and the Gannel river to the east.
The beach is popular for swimming, snorkelling, surfing and wind-surfing with board/canoe hire on the beach.
It is also a dog friendly beach, so your dog can enjoy a proper holiday too!
.
The village itself has many thatched cottages, a local shop, a cafe and a pub and is about 2 miles away from Newquay.
It dates back to 5th century and the National Trust owns much land in the village.

West Pentire headland with its beautiful wild flowers is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Fields of bright colourful Poppies and Corn Marigolds can be seen during the summer months.
There are many footpaths in the area so there are plenty of opportunities to walk and enjoy the views and coastal scenery.

The village is bounded to the north by the River Gannel. This tidal river flows across the northern edge of Crantock beach to join the Atlantic Ocean. A ferry operates seasonally between Fern Pit on the Newquay side of the river and Crantock Beach
so it is easy to go into Newquay without taking the car.
